Where is IPR?
Where is IPR?
The IPR is located on the back of the high pressure oil pump, which is located UNDER the fuel filter assembly, down in the V of the engine. The IPR valve has been largely unchanged since its introduction in 1994. The easiest way to remove the IPR valve is to build a special IPR removal tool.
What’s an IPR valve?
The IPR valve is a very critical component responsible for controlng the oil pressure to the injectors in the HEUI fuel system.
What does ICP valve do?
The IPR valve and ICP sensor work together as part of a feedback cycle to control the oil pressure to the injectors in the HEUI fuel system. The ICP reports the actual pressure to the PCM which then makes an adjustment in the position of the IPR valve to bring actual pressure into sync with desired pressure.
What does IPR stand for?
Intellectual property rights are the rights given to persons over the creations of their minds. They usually give the creator an exclusive right over the use of his/her creation for a certain period of time.
How do you know if your IPR is bad?
A key indicator of a bad IPR valve is low injection pressure. Symptoms of a bad 7.3 Powerstroke IPR can range from running very rough to a no start situation. The symptoms can sometimes feel like you have multiple bad injectors, among other things. You can easily and inexpensively resolve this problem.
How do I prime my DT466E?
LPSMECH
- Disconnect the injector harness at the valve cover.
- Pump the hand primer to fill the fuel system until hard to depress.
- Crank the engine for 15 seconds.
- Repeat step 2.
- Repeat step 3.
- Repeat step 2.
- Repeat step 3.
- Repeat step 2.
Is the DT466E a good engine?
The International DT466, DT466E, and MaxxForce DT are known as The Legend for good reason. They’re all very reliable engines mechanically and it isn’t unusual for the engines to outlast the trucks themselves. DT466 engines have the best reliability reputation for their mechanical nature and simplicity.
What are types of IPR?
There are four main types of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
What should IPR be when cranking?
This should also remain above 10 volts when cranking. The RPM PID should be above 150 RPM (I like to see above 160), but this depends on the temperature of the engine. If the temperature is down to near 0˚F, your cranking will be slower. The ICP voltage is very important.

How do you bleed air out of dt466e?
Let me restate what I posted previously….
- Replace filters.
- Install fitting on bleeder (front top of intake manifold in the fuel rail)
- Pump hand-primer until ALL air is purged from the rail.
- Remove fitting from bleeder port (either schrader or compu-check)
- Engine is now completely bled of air.
Does a DT466 have a lift pump?
This lift pump (also known as a diesel transfer pump, supply pump, or feed pump) is for trucks with the HEUI (oil operated) injection system. If you have an older mechanical DT466 with mechanical injectors (no wires going to them) this is NOT the correct pump for your truck.
What is the difference between a DT466 and a DT466E?
The 466 mechanical has an inline pump with six hardlines exiting it and going to the injectors. It has no ECU and no diagnostic connector. The 466E has a modular pump, with a single high pressure line.
What does DT stand for in DT466?
It included the D312 (4.410-in stroke) and the D (Diesel, naturally aspirated) and DT (Diesel, Turbo) 360 (5.085-in stroke) diesels. The 400 line shared a 4.30-in bore and included the D and DT414 (4.75-in stroke), D and DT436 (5.00-in stroke) and the D and DT466 (5.35-in stroke).
Where is the IPR valve located on a PowerStroke?
IPR Valve 7.3 Location Your 7.3 Powerstroke’s IPR is located in the center of the engine compartment, screwed into the lower right rear of your high pressure oil pump—HPOP. And the 7.3 HPOP is located under the fuel filter housing. 7.3 IPR – Injection Pressure Regulator Parts
What is the pulse width of the IPR valve?
You can easily and inexpensively resolve this problem. The IPR is a pulse-width modulated valve operating at 400 Hz. The pulse width is modulated from a duty cycle of 8 to 50% to control injection control pressure from 3.4-20.7 MPa (500-3000 psi).
How do you remove the IPR valve?
The IPR valve has been largely unchanged since its introduction in 1994. If one could find a deep enough socket, it could be used by itself. The easiest way to remove the IPR valve is to build a special IPR removal tool.
What is Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR)?
This valve is called the Injection Pressure Regulator or IPR. In the 7.3 Power Stroke engine, pressure control in the injector control pressure system is a closed loop. It is controlled by the injection pressure regulator (IPR), the injection control pressure (ICP) sensor and the strategy in the power train control module (PCM).
