ECALL is s SYSCALL in RISC-V. ECALL instruction does an atomic jump to a. controlled location (i.e. RISC-V 0x8000 0180) • Switches the sp to the kernel stack. • Saves the old (user) SP value.
Is PicoRV32 pipelined?
Consequently, it lacks features that would increase its complexity, such as a multi-stage pipeline. However, while not pipelined in the sense that different stages of multiple instructions execute simultaneously, the processor does feature a state machine that divides the execution of each instruction into stages.

What is Auipc?
auipc : Add upper immediate to PC. This instruction adds a 20-bit immediate value to the upper 20 bits of the program counter. This instruction enables PC-relative addressing in RISC-V. To form a complete 32-bit PC-relative address, auipc forms a partial result, then an addi instruction adds in the lower 12 bits.
Is RISC-V an assembly language?
RISC-V assembly is like any other assembly and resembles MIPS assembly. Just like any assembly, we have a list of instructions that incrementally get us closer to our solution. We will be using the riscv-g++ compiler and linking C++ files with assembly files.
