Is it worth skiing in Scotland?

Scotland can be great for skiing or boarding if you get good snow and decent weather. However this is pretty unreliable. Ok for me to look at the forcast and then drive for 2 hour to the slopes, but from London, not a good plan! The Alps are as easy to get too and much more reliable snow.
