Can you use heat gun on motherboard?
It may work but you’ll need to be careful you don’t fry surrounding components. Cover them in foil and leave the chip exposed. Don’t put the gun too close and use a very narrow nozzle. There are air soldering tools (and reflow) that are like mini heatguns that do a tidier job of this.
Can I dry a motherboard in oven?
Reputable. dish_moose : Some sort of gentle dry heat like from a hair dryer on low or if you have a decent convection oven, set it for 120F and let it dry for an hour. Make sure the temp in the oven is accurate.
Can you desolder with a hot air gun?
While it is possible to use a heat gun or hot air gun for desoldering, the results often leave much to be desired. Heat guns have inaccurate temperature control, too much air flow and heat too large of an area. The only thing they have going for them (compared to hot air rework stations) is their low cost.
Will a hot air gun melt solder?
As well as all kinds of other DIY jobs, a heat gun is very handy for soldering copper pipes. It’s most suitable for working with soft solder with a melting point below 400°C.

How many zones are in Reflow?
In the conventional reflow soldering process, there are usually four stages, called “zones”, each having a distinct thermal profile: preheat, thermal soak (often shortened to just soak), reflow, and cooling.
Can I reflow circuit boards in my oven?
Use the correct tool for the job. This means that you shouldn’t reflow circuit boards in your kitchen oven. You can end up with some nasty/harmful fumes.
What is reflow on a laptop motherboard?
The term ‘reflow’ describes a process of briefly melting (reflowing) the solder on an electrical circuit board, in this case a laptop motherboard. Why would you perform a Reflow on a laptop motherboard?
Can you put a motherboard in the oven?
A whole motherboard, no. Add-on cards, yes. (to be fair, I’ve tried the oven method for kicks and giggles, but I prefer to use my SMD station if I can help it) 250F, half an hour. Make sure all plastic is off of it. If you have access to an SMD station or even a heat gun, you can target the heat better and avoid the melty areas.
