It would explain why Ichigo’s sword is always in its Shikai state and never a “sealed” state. How did Ichigo get his Shinigami powers?
Here Ginjou basically confirms that Ichigo had a predisposition for Shinigami powers and always had them, probably by genetics. His dad was a shinigami after all and we don’t have any other examples of Shinigami-human cross-breeding, which brings us to the hypothesis that shinigami powers are hereditary.
Why does Ichigo need someone to fix his zanpakuto?
Ichigo’s Zanpakuto being made from the Chain of Encroachment and likely being similar to an Espada blade is likely why the whole “fake Shinigami” thing. Also why it couldn’t be stolen by a Quincy and the similarity of Getsuga Tensho to Cero (as you pointed out). This also means of course that Ichigo needs someone else’s help to fix his blade.
