Is the HK G3 a good rifle?

A G3 or clone isn’t quite as reliable as a FAL or as accurate as an M1A, but it’s still an excellent and dependable weapon. Like any rifle it’s massively overpowered for home defense, but for general use or in a SHTF situation it’s a great choice – and usually a lot cheaper than its rivals.

Is the G3 more accurate than the FAL?

In stock configuration, the G3 is probably worse than the FAL and M14 for the shooter. Both the M14 and FAL have last round bolt hold open devices (in most configurations), the G3 does not. The G3 is notorious for a “violent” action, which beats up brass and the shooter’s face with how the stock is laid out.
