Can you apply for Robertson Morehead-Cain?

All students who apply to UNC before the Early Action deadline are considered for the Morehead-Cain through the Admissions Referral Program (ARP). UNC-Chapel Hill hosts two independent merit scholarship programs: the Morehead-Cain and the Robertson. A student can be considered for both scholarships at the same time.

How competitive is the Morehead-Cain?

Annually, there are around 2,000 applicants; only three percent of each year’s nominees selected. The criteria for selection are character, leadership, physical vigor, and scholarship. Around fifty to 75 scholarships are offered each year, with about 200 Morehead scholars on campus at any one time.

How much is the Morehead-Cain Scholarship worth?

Award Amount: The scholarship pays full tuition and student fees, renewable for three additional years. Scholars will also receive a laptop computer and participate in summer enrichment programs. The total value of the scholarship is approximately $80,000 for in-state students and $140,000 for out-of-state students.
