May 2, 2020 – September 2022 As part of its Phase 2 LRT project, the City of Ottawa has affirmed its plan to shut down the O-Train for a two-year period beginning in May 2020. At this time, the city is projecting the new LRT service on the line will resume in September 2022.

Why Ottawa light rail system failed?
The trains — purpose-built for winter — couldn’t work in cold temperatures. Most recently, the system shut down for almost two full months due to a derailment, which was itself the result of improper safety procedures after an earlier derailment.

What new school routes have been added to OC Transpo?
NEW special school routes added to serve Earl of March Secondary School, John McCrae Secondary School, Merivale High School, and St. Mother Teresa High School. Everyone is required to wear a cloth mask before entering a station, shelter, or boarding an OC Transpo vehicle.
Why is the east end of the Transitway platform closed?
The east end of the southbound Transitway platform (open-air area) will be CLOSED to customers to accommodate construction of a new pedestrian ramp. Stairway and elevator access to/from and the enclosed waiting area of the southbound Transitway platform will remain OPEN throughout this phase of work.
