Why are my Oster clippers not cutting?
If there is rust damage between the teeth, then you will need to replace the blade. The rust dulls your blades and will continue to dull the blades even if they are sharpened. After cleaning your blades, then you MUST align the blades or they will not cut properly no matter how clean and shiny they are.

How often should clippers be serviced?
Clean and vacuum any air vents weekly. Remove the end cap and gently vacuum any hair or debris in cap or inside clipper at least once a month. Grease and oil clippers every 2 months, or every 3 or 4 weeks for higher-speed clippers. Replace the link (part of the drive assembly) every 4 months.
How do you know you need new clippers?
If your clipper blades are still pulling the hair, you will need to replace your blades or alternatively have them sharpened.
What is the difference between F and FC blades?
F or FC means Finish Cut or Fine Cut. F and FC mean the same thing (so a 7F and a 7FC mean the same). Shorter blades (listed below) are always FC, so you won’t often see F or FC in the blade name. For blades longer than a 10 (listed below), look for either ST or FC in the blade name, or the blade description.

How do you fix hair clippers that won’t cut?
To fix this:
- Loosen your taper lever.
- Align your blades to be “almost” parallel to each other; ensuring the stationary blade sits a bit higher than the cutting blade.
- Set your taper lever to the closed position.
- Use your left hand to hold the blades together while you tighten them.
- Thereafter, tighten your taper lever.
Why did my hair clippers stopped working?
All mains clippers have an overload switch which is usually situated towards to back of the machine. If your machine has stopped working, it’s always best to check this hasn’t popped out first. If it has, use a match stick (or similar) to push the switch back in and see if this rectifies the problem.

How often should I oil my clipper blades?

Oiling your clippers will help to reduce friction that can wear down the blade, prevent your clippers from overheating and help to keep them sharper longer. While you do not have to oil your clipper blades after every use, you should get into the routine of oiling them every 2 uses.
How many times can clipper blades be sharpened?
Normally if the coat is clean, a set of blades should manage up to about five clips, but generally speaking two to three is average. If this is the case, it is best to send them away for re-sharpening. It is money well spent to use sharp blades.
Why is my clipper not cutting?
Clean the clipper to remove any hair clipping or grease accumulation. Place your new blades on the clipper and screw them loosely. Align your blades and hold them in place using your other hand. Gently, tighten the clipper’s screws simultaneously to maintain blade alignment.
