MTSU Fraternity and Sorority Life has 23 chapters – 10 sororities and 13 fraternities. As of this past academic year, we have over 1,000 members within the community and we are growing!

How much does it cost to join? Each organizations’ dues vary in amount. The initial semester of joining can cost from $685 – $950, with most organizations not costing more than $1,000 for the entire year. One of the reasons that the initial semester is more than a typical semester is due to the one-time initiation fee.

Where are the fraternity houses at MTSU?
At MTSU, there are eight houses found on Greek Row located right off of Rutherford Boulevard and on MTSU’s campus. Six of these houses house members of our six College Panhellenic Sororities. Additionally, Sigma Chi and international students are housed on Greek Row as well.

MTSU’s current mascot is a blue winged horse named “Lightning,” adopted as the mascot in 1998, when the athletics department updated its image in preparation for the 1999 upgrade to Division I-A football and subsequent transfer to the Sun Belt Conference.

MTSU is a suitcase campus. Only about 3000 students live on campus and about the same live just off campus out of the 25,000 that attend. So on the weekends this place is like a ghost town but it is an amazing place. It is pegged to be a big party school but it really isn’t.
