Where do you put the Monti cap?
Where do you put the Monti cap?
Placement: Mount the Vivid’s Red Cap using IC gel glue, or putty, on an exposed rock or ledge in the aquarium where it will receive direct flow and light. Remember that as it grows and plates out it will create more and more shade below it.
How fast do Monti caps grow?
In 6 months, mine probably about tripled. It’s funny cause you can predict when it is gonna go through a spurt. The rock it’s on will turn white where it’s growing. Plus the ends turn white when growing, atleast with my purple cap.
What is polyp extension?
Polyp extension (PE) in Acropora corals (acros) is often affected by pests, fish nipping, the stability of water parameters, and adequate flow and lighting. In addition, adding nutrients and the right food can elicit a feeding response that is manifested in PE.
How long does it take to open Acropora?
It usually takes a couple weeks to a month for the polyps to recede sometimes 2 months…and they never disappear but they just get significantly smaller.
Why are my SPS polyps not extending?
Not enough water flow allows excess algae and/or detritus to build up on the coral’s polyps, causing them to retract. SPS corals with low light requirements do not do well under intense lighting, and corals that require intense lighting, will not cope well in poor lighting.
Can Acropora touch each other?
If SPS corals do touch each other in your reef aquarium, you are likely to get a bit of warfare at the point of contact, but it doesn’t always result in killing the coral. Usually, the most dominant SPS coral (mainly Acropora corals), will keep growing whilst the weaker one loses parts of its body that are touched.
How do you make SPS grow faster?
You will want to give them medium to high lighting and strong water movement. Metal halide lights are recommended, however, under a blue LED, they fluoresce extremely well. Here at Pieces Of The Ocean (P.O.T.O), we use 100% LED lighting to grow all of our corals, and have been very successful.
Does Montipora grow fast?
With good lighting and parameters it grows pretty quick, one of the faster growing sps species, I had a bit around 2inchs about 4 months ago and it’s probably 5 times that size now and has a few layers forming.
Do corals like Bluelight?
Efficient photosynthesis requires not only adequate light intensity but also the correct spectrum of light. Terrestrial plants, like those found in our garden, favor colors in the yellow, orange, and red range while corals favor colors in the blue spectrum.
