Do you have to swear in at MEPS?
At MEPS, you will take the ASVAB, choose your MOS and take a physical. If you pass the ASVAB and physical, you will be able to swear into the military on that same day. When going to MEPS, it should take a couple of days to get through all the paperwork.
What can I expect at a MEPS physical?
Your blood will be tested for HIV, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, RPR, and alcohol. There are also two different urine tests; one is the legal drug urine and the other tests for pH, blood, protein and specific gravity. You’ll take a hearing test, and an eye exam, including depth perception and color vision.
Can my family come with me to MEPS?
Your parents/guardians are allowed to accompany you to MEPS but are not allowed in the area where the processing and examinations take place. During the Oath of Enlistment ceremony, parents, family, and guests are welcomed to watch and take pictures.
Can my family go to MEPS with me?
At MEPS, your child will take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test, undergo a physical examination (which varies by Service and job) and undergo a background screening. As a parent, you are free to accompany your child to MEPS, but you will be asked to wait in a separate area during the test.

Hand and Fingers Any absence of the hand or any part of the hand is disqualifying. Any extra finger is also disqualifying.

Can you leave the MEPS hotel?
Upon arriving at the hotel, you will check in, drop off any luggage and take a shuttle to the MEPS where ASVAB testing begins at 4 p.m. If you already have taken the ASVAB, you can hang out at the hotel, eat dinner (all meals are provided for you) and get to know some of the other applicants.
Does MEPS do a blood test?
They will test your vision… …and hearing… …and blood pressure. You will undergo a series of maneuvers to determine your physical capabilities. You will have blood drawn to test for the HIV virus. You will have a drug and alcohol test.
Can MEPS get your medical records?
Lying at MEPS about medical or mental health history is a really bad idea with serious consequences, as stated on the Army enlistment contract you sign. Because the military does not routinely pull medical records, recruits who pass their physical and reveal no prior history may get in.
Do they do a Pap smear at MEPS?
(a) For females, enlisted applicants are required to have a pelvic examination at MEPS but need not have a PAP smear until reporting to the RTC/MCRD.
Do they check your phone at MEPS?
Yes, you can have your phone with you at MEPS. However, they are only generally allowed in the waiting area and are not allowed in any testing area.
