What is Tapestry? Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us.
What does no refinement mean on tapestry?
The ‘no refinement’ statement means we have simply linked the activity to the areas of ‘Development Matters’. It is not a reflection of the age phase they are working at and it is not an assessment of their progress.

Who can see my observations on Tapestry?
As parents/carers you both can access Tapestry by letting us know any e-mail addresses that you wish to link with the system (limited to 2 per child). Can other relatives join in Tapestry? You can choose to share your log in details with extended family if you wish, so they can see your child’s Learning Journal.
Is 40/60 secure the same as Elg?
The requirements for ELG expected are higher than that of 40-60, but lower than that of Band 1. There is therefore a ‘gap’ within the system in this area in terms of progress tracking.
What do the flags mean on tapestry?
To help support educators with all of this, Tapestry has developed a new feature called ‘Flags’. These flags will allow you to make an observation on a child as before, but instead of worrying about assessing that observation, practitioners need only ‘flag’ the areas that they feel are relevant for that observation.
Who can see my observations on tapestry?

Only password holders can access the features. Parents can only see their own child’s learning journal.
What is a good level of development in EYFS?
What is GLD (Good Level of Development) A ‘good level of development’ can be defined as a child reaching the ‘expected’ level of development at the end of their reception year, at the end of EYFS. It is an outcome of a summative assessment based on learning outcomes in regard to the prime areas of learning.
How is GLD measured in EYFS?
The GLD measure is supported by a measure of the average of the cohort’s total point score across all the early learning goals. The levels attained by children at the end of the EYFS are allocated a number as follows: Emerging = 1, Expected = 2 and Exceeding = 3.
How do parents use Tapestry?
Tapestry facilitates this, by enabling a personal journal, or diary, to build over time. Photographs, videos and notes of special moments are not only recorded, but can be made available regularly and often immediately to you.
