E30 is a type of fuel which is 30% ethanol. So an E30 tune is a car tuned to run on E30 fuel.
What replaces E30?
A full E30 brake service is likely in order, which should include pads, rotors, sensors, fluid, and possibly brake lines. You’ll also want to replace all the E30 fluids and filters, looking for signs of leaks along the way.
What is the rarest E30?
When it comes to classic cars, there is rare, and there is super rare. The Roberto Ravaglia edition E30 M3 is the rarest of all E30 M3s, with a production run of just 25, made exclusively for the UK market (BMW designate the 480 Cecotto editions and 25 Ravaglia editions together hence the plaque reading 74/505).
Can you run 93 on an E30 tune?
It’s not safe. In addition to what was mentioned above regarding timing (E30 targets more aggressive than 93), your fueling is going to be way off – the car is going to run extremely rich because the E30 tables are commanding more fuel, and you will be relying on fuel trims to compensate.
Is it worth it to buy an E30?
Whether you want a classic car for the weekends, or a daily for commuting to work or school, the E30 is a great choice. If you get a good example, and keep up maintenance, these cars can easily go past 250,000 miles on an original engine. If you want space, you can go for the Sedan or Touring (euro only).

Do you need a tune to run E30?
Do I need anything to run E30/E85? For E30 you do not need to change anything but the tune on the car. However we will not tune an Ecoboost Mustang without an upgraded intercooler. Other vehicles we support intercooler’s are OK but can heavily benefit from being upgraded.
How much HP does E30 add?
For those not familiar with BMW’s engine codes, that’s the 3.2-liter six that was fitted to the newer E36 M3, Z3 M Coupe and Z3 M Roadster. Originally, it came with 325 PS (321 hp / 239 kW), but in this E30, it’s reportedly producing an insane 1,100 horsepower.

E30 has an octane rating of 94 while regular unleaded gasoline has a rating of 87.
Can I use E30 without a tune?
Yes! But only with a tune. Ethanol by itself doesn’t increase power — it increases the octane (resistance to knock) and allows for more timing and/or boost to be run safely. According to PTF on EWG cars we can expect gains of ~50whp with the OTS Stage 2 E30 map over the OTS Stage 2 93 oct map.
Why do people love E30?
Its boxy wedge design that was an overarching theme throughout the automotive industry in the 80s is one of the few that many consider timeless. As is the case for most cars made in this era, it had the customary explosion of buttons, but everything else in the interior was pure class with only premium materials used.
