The quick answer? A better pair of insoles can make a world of difference…for a little while. But whatever deficiency is present in the boot is always going to be there. Whether that makes a difference is really whether it makes a difference to you or not.
Do you put new insoles on top of old insoles?
Scholl’s® insoles and orthotics can placed over a shoe’s existing insole as long as the shoe is still comfortable and does not feel too tight. Any insole or orthotic that is not full-length should be placed on top of your shoe’s existing insole.
How do I get the right insoles?
Insoles should be firm enough so that when you press down on the arch, it doesn’t collapse. If there’s too much give, the insert won’t give you the support you need. Insoles work best when they match the contours of your feet. Insoles that are too high can hurt.

Custom Fit® Orthotics are made with highly durable materials. Under normal use, we expect the Orthotics to last from 6 months to a year. If you use the inserts frequently, we recommend replacing them every six months or at the first signs of wear.
Do Nicks boots fit true-to-size?
Nicks fit true-to-size. If you know your Nicks size, the fit will remain the same after the break-in, however, the boot may feel different with a different arch profile.

Can You Build Your Boots to fit my insoles or orthotics?
Unfortunately, we can not build our boots to accommodate your insoles or custom orthotics. Many customers prefer the built-in arch support over their inserts after the boots are broken in.
Can I use my custom heel profile with my Nicks?
A boot’s heel height and shape coordinates with the arch profile of the boot. Therefore, most heel profiles are paired with the arch height and balance the boot. Can I use my custom orthotics/insoles with my Nicks? Unfortunately, we can not build our boots to accommodate your insoles or custom orthotics.
