Can I reuse AeroGarden sponges?
Can I reuse a sponge? If the sponge hasn’t been used you can remove the seeds and replace them with your own seeds. However, if you’ve already used the seed pod sponge to grow a plant, you should keep the plastic basket and throw out the sponge.
Should I trim my tomato plants in my AeroGarden?
No maintenance required. Fun Fact: When tomatoes are grown outdoors there is usually no need to prune them, however we recommend pruning AeroGarden tomatoes to keep them small and compact and produce maximum harvests. No maintenance required. (Your seedlings are too young to prune).
How often do you change the water in an AeroGarden?
Once a month when the nutrient light comes on, use our specially sized siphon to quickly drain all the nutrient solution in the AeroGarden into the sink or a bucket ( see picture to the right). Add nutrients and water as usual then press the reset button. That’s it!
Can I plant AeroGarden pods in soil?
Transplanting hydroponic plants to soil requires careful planning, but it can be done successfully. Aerogarden plants and herbs must get used to their new environment gradually once they are replanted into pots, so don’t plant them directly into the ground outdoors.
Why is my tomato plant dying in my AeroGarden?
If the water is not being aerated, the roots can’t send enough oxygen up to the plants, which will then slowly suffocate until finally they collapse. AeroGardens have systems to aerate the water, and it’s important to check the pump or aerator periodically to make sure it is working.
When should I pick my AeroGarden jalapenos?
Harvest when the peppers are large and firm. Cut from the plant when they are green or red. The longer the pepper is on the plant, the redder and hotter it gets.

Can I grow full size tomatoes in my AeroGarden?
They are a true vine, and in places without a frost will grow to 50 to 100 feet long. When choosing a tomato to grow in the AeroGarden, look for dwarf determinate varieties (for the AG3 or AG7) and smaller determinates for the AG Extra.
Can I grow lettuce and tomatoes in the same AeroGarden?
Yes, you can mix different types of plants together if you prune them as needed to manage growth. Herbs, Flowers and Salads are easiest to mix and match together.
