How waterproof is RAB?

These layers are incredibly thin, at Rab we use membranes that range between 7 and 30 microns in thickness – for reference, a strand of human hair is around 100 microns. Finer membranes will allow for greater breathability but regular use can lead to a loss of waterproofing.

Are Rab coats warm?

Why do waterproof jackets lose their waterproof?

For the water vapour to escape effectively it is important that the outer surface of the material is not saturated with water. To prevent this your jacket is treated with a DWR coating (Durable Water Repellancy), but this coating wears off over time and needs to be replaced.

Are Rab jackets tight fitting?

The rab small is very tight on me and the mediums fit better. 5’8″ 140 here. I wear a medium in everything else but my Rab Microlight Alpine is a large and fits perfectly with typical layering.

Do Rab use down?

It’s where Rab began over 30 years ago. We use responsibly sourced down that is certified by the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). It mostly comes from European geese and ducks. We also use recycled down, diverting down that would have gone to the land fill and putting it into our products.
